It’s been a very rainy winter so far here in California, and when it rains, I tend to get into a wardrobe rut of skinny black pants and sweaters. Last week’s Get the Look, however, got me thinking—as long as it’s not raining, why not change it up with white jeans? I’ve found that wearing lighter colors in cold, dark weather really helps brighten my mood, and a little pop of white can go a long way. So with a little serotonin boost in mind, here are 5 ways to wear white jeans in winter.
With knee-high boots
Confession: I stole this idea from Arielle Charnas, who’s been posting some drool-worthy OOTDs on Instagram. (Hers are usually The Row, Céline, YSL, etc. so this look, of course, has been Cheryl Shops’ed with much more affordable pieces.) I actually forgot I had these boots, which you last saw in my Coastal Grandmother look—they had fallen behind a shelf in my closet—but they are so comfy and there’s plenty of room for jeans-tucking. The color blends so well with my new favorite cashmere blazer (last seen in December) and still-a-classic Chloé bag. I should also note: If you’re wearing this outfit in most places, you probably need a coat on top, but it certainly works for Californian winters!

With camel and gray
This outfit is an oldie but a goodie—it’s from 2018!—but I love how light yet wintry it feels. I still wear this camel coat and gray suede boots all the time, and while the exact sweater and jeans I’m wearing here are long gone, this reminds me I should re-create this look with pieces I currently own.

With a teddy coat
This is a really warm outfit, and one that I still wear quite a bit. In fact, I’m wearing the sweater as I write this—it’s technically black, but the alpaca yarn has a lighter color in it as well, which gives it nice dimension and a fluffy texture. Plus Uniqlo keeps bringing this coat back year after year, and the current version is just a touch longer than mine, making it extra cozy.

With millennial pink
Real talk, this might be one of my favorite outfits I’ve ever featured here. The colors make me instantly happy—there’s something inherently warming about camel and pink together—and the combination feels so unexpected on a cold winter day. And while I recently saw someone say that Golden Goose sneakers are over, I still wear mine all the time.

With a black blazer
Again, not an outfit you want to wear outside if you live in, say, Chicago, but the alpaca sweater is super warm, especially under a lined blazer. I love the subtle play of textures here, between the fluffiness of the alpaca and the snakeskin print that ties it all together.
